About the course
Our flagship long-format printmaking course starts with hand-cut stencil silkscreen prints and moves rapidly through hand drawing, rubylith, halftoning, and spot color. Suited to all skill levels and degrees of artistic experience.
In this four-session silkscreen course, students will learn the fundamentals of screenprinting as well as experimental techniques. You'll learn to design multi-layer prints, prepare digital templates for screen printing, use overlapping layers to expand the color range of a print, experiment with reduction and direct stencil techniques, use screen printing as a tool across traditional print media, and explore approaches to making prints larger than the screen.
Open to all levels of experience. Tuition includes working access to Shoestring Press over the course of enrollment, including screens, ink, storage, free access during open shop hours, and large-format digital printing.
